RESPONDING to the recent rule changes allowing Class C and CE driving candidates to train and be tested in vehicles with an automated gearbox, Glasgow based Ritchies Training Centre has totally upgraded its fleet of tractor units to ‘two pedal’ and in December took delivery of eight brand new Volvo FL240, 12 tonne plated 4×2 rigids for Class C ‘automated’ training.

Explained Stephen Ritchie, ‘We aim to keep up to date with the ever changing driver training legislation and when the move to automated gearboxes was announced, we took the opportunity to massively upgrade our Class C and CE training fleet vehicles.

‘We have been regular Volvo users for years now and their west of Scotland dealership at Cardonald was able to meet our new rigid truck requirements with eight, 12 tonners, all automated and complete with box bodies built and fitted by PMH Coachbuilders Ltd of Dennyloanhead, in which each truck carries five tonnes of water in separate IBC’s.
