Truck Sales Star Of Aberdeen And The Black Isle Show Retires

Following a long and successful career, Sam Barrack, general sales manager at Norscot Truck & Van Aberdeen, retired on 28 May 2021.

IT WAS back in 1976 that Sam Barrack started as a junior salesperson with JGB Commercials, but his interest in all things haulage and motor vehicles started many years before that. With the family interest in steam and vintage vehicles it’s fair to say that transport has been in the Barrack blood for five generations and even his spare time is taken up by tending classic road-going vehicles.
The 1914 Fowler road locomotive, Finella, that Sam’s grandfather used for off-road forestry work, is still one of the family’s eight steam traction engines that are preserved by the whole family.
Sam stayed with JGB Commercials, the Mercedes-Benz truck dealer in Aberdeen through their many guises, before joining brother George as general sales manager at Norscot in 2001. It can’t be said by many that they start and finish their career at the same office site; Norscot Truck & Van is based on the original JGB Commercials site in Bridge of Don.
