Post-Covid Regulation Still A Challenge

LAST AUTUMN, Scottish Traffic Commissioner Claire Gilmore delivered her second annual report in a time of Covid, in which she stressed that the need for consistent, fair and proportionate regulation in times of crisis.
Driver availability and shortages of skilled staff didn’t help either, particularly in remote and rural communities across Scotland, she reported, with good reason, since the Scottish Traffic Area is the biggest in the UK, covering 80,000 square kilometres!
In a recent discussion with Alistair Vallance, the STC confirmed that her Edinburgh based office is now almost back to pre-Covid performance.
