New TCs Need ‘Real World’ Experience

NEW TRAFFIC commissioners (TCs) should have some transport industry experience, according to James Firth, head of road freight regulation at Logistics UK.
“They need to have been named on an O-licence at some point,” he suggested.
“This would give them a better understanding of the day-to-day pressures’ operators face. They’ll know what it’s like for a transport manager to have the company’s sales director shouting at him because he has refused to allow a truck laden with goods to leave the yard because it’s not roadworthy,” he explained.
