Road Transport Prices Reach New Highs

ROAD transport prices have risen for the sixth consecutive month, against a backdrop of runaway inflation and potential recession, according to the latest TEG price index data, writes Carol Millett.
The average price-per-mile for UK haulage vehicles rose by one point to 117.8 points in August, after showing signs of falling midway through the month.
The overall price-per-mile for road freight has risen continuously for six months now, after decreasing significantly at the beginning of 2022.
It is currently 12.5% higher than this year’s lowest prices in February, according to the TEG Road Transport Price Index.
