A new direct ferry service linking Rosyth and Dunkirk in France could open this year, says the ferry company who would provide the service DFDS.

The new route, first mooted in 2022, would also re-establish freight links between Scotland and mainland Europe

The 20-hour crossing between Rosyth and Dunkirk will would make it one of the longest routes in Europe.

Responding to the news of a planned direct ferry service between Scotland and France, Logistics UK head of trade and devolved policy, Nichola Mallon explains how the benefits will be felt across the whole of the UK: “This new direct sailing route between Scotland and France will increase freight connectivity between the GB market and European markets.

“As well as increasing route options it will increase the resilience of UK supply chains and help drive growth across the whole economy.
