The official unveiling of the electric battery Yutong 7.5 tonne chassis cab took place at Pelican Engineering’s dealership in Wakefield, writes Kevin Swallow.
Pelican Engineering’s decision to bring in the Chinese built battery-powered 7.5-tonne truck follows its success in the UK with its diesel and electric bus and coach range stretching back more than a decade.
There will be two battery options available offering 100kW and 132kW of available energy with a range of over 180 miles on a full charge, and it is set up for key UK markets such as last mile, construction and refrigerated sectors.
I took the T75e out on the road and it will make its public debut at Road Transport Expo in June 2025.
A full report on the truck, how it handled on the roads of Yorkshire and Pelican’s strategy to build market share will be in a forthcoming issue of Transport News.
