A record number of cyclists from the road transport sector are taking part in the TIP Group charity cycling event in Italy as they seek to raise £70,000, writes Peter Brown.
This is the 11th ride and this particular trip – dubbed The Italy Job II – takes in more than 350 kilometres and 7,000ft of climbing from Venice to Milan.
“The team of 2025 will be made up of many familiar faces from the UK, Irish and European transport industries with a record number of 55 riders of all sizes, shapes and abilities, taking part,” said Mike Furnival, the managing director of TIP Trailer Services.
He said the money raised goes to the ‘Dougie Mac’, which is a self-funded facility created to support terminally ill children and their families when they truly need it.
“They are truly wonderful people providing a selfless service for the community by caring for adults, young adults and children living with life-limiting illnesses whilst also providing supportive care for their families,” he explained.
“External financial support is vital to these families who rely on this facility at a very difficult time, and we are proud to support them again this year.”
