Harrisons Transport has taken delivery of five new Volvo FH 460 with I-Save tractor units, equipped with Globetrotter XL cabs. The order was placed after the Preston based business averaged 11mpg with its first batch of Volvo’s turbo compound engine trucks. Supplied by Thomas Hardie Commercials, two of the 6x2 FHs will be paired with refrigerated trailers and used across the UK, while the other three will be on container work. Each of the trucks feature Volvo’s D13TC Euro 6 Step D engine, which benefits from turbo compounding and additional fuel-saving features, all whilst delivering an additional 300Nm of low-down torque. Lee Harrison, owner of Harrisons Transport, said: “The fuel returns from Volvo turbo compound engines is very good. We originally took eight back in 2019 and they’ve averaged around 11mpg. ”
