MAN To Develop Hydrogen Drive Systems

MUNICH based MAN Truck & Bus has linked with a Nuremberg university to research and develop hydrogen based vehicle drive systems. And the unusual aspect of this cooperation is that the ‘Hydrogen Campus will be formed within the MAN diesel engine plant.
Interestingly, during the IAA Truck Show held in Hanover in 2018, MAN were emphatic that their fuel of the future would be battery electric. However, fuel cells and hydrogen combustion engines are now very much in the MAN frame apparently.
The main driver behind bringing academics and technicians together is the recent elevation of the Nuremberg Metropolitan Area to become a European centre of competence for hydrogen drives.
