Northern Rewards Comes of Age

‘Best Ever’ breakfast presentation event determines the broad base on which the North of England’s road haulage industry will recognise its local heroes going forward. Alistair Vallance reports from Manchester.
A FULL house of northern road haulage luminaries based on both sides of the Pennines, celebrated their peer winners of an array of industry awards at the third annual Transport News Northern Rewards presentation breakfast held in the Mercure Piccadilly Hotel, Manchester on the morning of Friday 6 October.
Eighteen trophies were on display as 260 guests entered the banqueting suite to be welcomed by popular comedian Scott Bennett, followed by a sumptuous ‘Full English’ breakfast. Thereafter the non-stop programme unfolded with words and pictures from the road haulage industry charity Transaid, prior to a raffle that saw a £500 John Lewis voucher going to Chris Bartlett of TVS Interfleet.
Whale Tankers’ guests won the Northern Rewards’ famous Top Table Draw which saw a £100 voucher going to all ten table guests and during the tranches of category presentations, live music was professionally provided by well-known String Fever.
