Volvo Trucks has launched the new FH Aero, featuring a longer and more aerodynamic cab with digital mirrors and a new top-power 780hp engine, writes Andy Stewart.
It means the FH16 Aero version is now the most powerful truck currently in series production, stealing back the crown from arch-rival Scania’s 770hp R- and S-series.
With improved aerodynamics and new technologies, such as Volvo’s Camera Monitoring System which replaces traditional exterior mirrors, the new FH Aero can reduce energy consumption and emissions by up to 5%, reckons Volvo.
“The new Volvo FH Aero is our most efficient truck ever as we continue to reduce CO2 from our entire product range,” said Roger Alm, president, Volvo Trucks.
