FRESH FROM the decision in Holland to abandon the Dutch longer vehicle trial (TN, November 2021), comes news of how a ‘drawbar b-double’ is helping an energy supplier move wood chip from a rail head to its power plant.
To solve a ‘last mile’ logistics issue, a Swedish haulier is using a unique combination involving a prime mover, a link trailer and an additional semi-trailer. It is 34m long, has 12 axles and a gross train weight (GTW) of 98 tonnes.
The ‘roadtrain’ journeys on a 20km route via the E20 highway in Södertälje, Sweden.
