Two years ago, after a number of years of research and development, Derbyshire based Colson Transport set up a trailer manufacturing and sales business called Colson Trailers, focusing on the aggregate market with a steel trailer and the waste sector with a scrap trailer. Alan Colson explains the new start up strategy and the products to Kevin Swallow.
However, Alan Colson begs to differ. Operating from Heanor, Derbyshire, he is the founder and director of Colson Transport. He has 50 years experience in the tipper sector of the transport industry from aggregates to scrap metals to waste.
That range of knowledge and experience is why he decided to create the new subsidiary Colson Trailers, to build trailers that would suit his own fleet.
As a new start firm, it was two years ago that it invested into an overseas manufacturer, where trailer chassis and bodywork are built to Colson Trailers’ designs and standards.
