On the Road With Ford’s E-Transit

Launched last year, Ford has worked hard to develop a battery electric Transit befitting its status as the leading light commercial vehicle manufacturer in the UK. Van press expert John Kendall puts a Ford E-Transit through its paces.

FORD WOULD probably be the first to admit that it was a bit late in coming to the party when its first electric van, the E-Transit, reached dealers last year.
That said, over the years, Ford has established a bit of a pattern here, not necessarily first to market, but when the company does launch, it is with a well-researched and thoroughly developed model. The question here is, has the company done the same again with the E-Transit?
By the time you read this, Ford Pro, as the company has re-branded its commercial vehicle operations, will have revealed its third electric van, the E-Transit Courier, at the CV Show at the NEC in April. This model won’t reach the UK market until the end of next year, following the launch of E-Transit Custom later this year.
